Weekend at the Butte
Aug 1st
Well I took Anna to Crested Butte this weekend. It was her first time up there, and was a fabulous experience for us both.
We started off Saturday morning early with the sunny drive over the divide. Check-in at our B&B wasn’t until 4:00, so we thought we’d take our time and do a little climbing before arriving at the Butte.
Our first minor mishap was the driver (me) forgetting where to get onto HWY 285, and starting off west down I-70. Somewhere around Georgetown Anna said "wait… where the heck are you going?"
Oh well, she proved to be a wonderful navigator and quickly got us back on track. We drove up to Copper and took the highway down to hit 285 in Buena Vista.
Of course we then took the scenic ride over Monarch pass, and were soon approaching Gunnison.
After another quick stop, we were finally on our way to Hartman’s Rocks just outside of Gunnison. We arrived at this wonderful crag and quickly discovered the focal point of the area, "Quintessential Pinnacle" … otherwise known to the locals as "penis rock".
After some climbing we drove to the butte and checked in.
Well… this blog is about my life on dialysis right?
…
Well I’m finished here now, and don’t have time to finish this post… so I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you about the rest of the trip. (sorry)
