Politics – Why Don’t People Understand It?

I just got done reading this long email that I happened to have forwarded to me.  First of all, I hate getting email forwarded to me… EVEN if it’s something I find interesting.
So this one was of a not-so-unique flavor espousing all sorts of "facts" about the war, and what "losing" it will mean for us.   This person went on and on about Muslims and their hatred of Americans… blah blah blah.
As a conservative I should have been cheering about a lie filled email finally coming out from our side; what with all the rhetoric and build-to-suit facts Michael Moore and his ilk bombard our impressionable American minds with.
But I didn’t feel happy inside.  I felt like yet another person was talking about world politics when they have absolutely no clue what’s involved.
Then began the replies from the other people who were sent the email.  I think one of them (yes Corey, you), had something noteworthy.  The rest of it was the normal leftist – "here’s another chance for me to talk about why I think I’m smart for hating George Bush " – verbosity.
What is going on?
I don’t get it.

Can’t everyone at least agree that we need to get this thing done?
Don’t get me wrong, the lunacy seems to be capacious on both sides.  Neither side though, seems to have any real world knowledge of the cultural rift we’re facing.
You’re not going to hand a single nation-state over to three diametrically opposed factions and walk away without a care!
I certainly don’t have any answers, and wouldn’t want to subject you to my worthless drivel if I thought I did…
But can everyone please stop acting so involved?

*stepping down from soap box now…*

Memoirs of Memorial Weekend

Well, it’s over.  Always a busy time of year, the unofficial kickoff of summer was surprisingly tame this year.  We did have plenty of offers of things to do, but unfortunately it was cold, and rainy here.  Some friends had invited us for a bit of ‘wiffle’ at the park, but in pounding rain and hail, that’s hardly any fun.  Instead we went over to the folk’s house (Anna’s folks) for a BBQ.  Several people ditched out, but we had a great time anyway.
Anna was quite the motivated one though.  She was up bright and early to run in the Bolder Boulder.  For those not familiar with this race, it’s a 10K run around downtown Boulder.  It ends at Folsom Field (the stadium at CU) where even the novice or amateur runs into a stadium full of screaming people cheering them on.  Now, I’ve never myself run this race (which is weird  being a Boulder native and all), but from what I’m told, it’s quite exhilerating to run into that stadium to the sounds of thousands cheering.
Anyway, congrats to everyone who completed this fantastic run, and was able to get their butts out of bed on such a cool-rainy morning.
