Hello all,
I’d really like to write about my frustration with people saying
“Memorial Day Weekend” …. but the reality is; if I don’t get out of
this office and home to my wife soon, she’s going to kill me.
My moves here are monitored, and I can’t risk the entire blogging
revolution by staying late at the office and posting when I should be at
home.
So it will have to wait until tomorrow or Monday!
Have a great *Memorial Weekend*!
Several years ago I was into Mountain Biking. I basically gave it up when my health started deteriorating, but just recently have begun riding again. Keep in mind I’ve gone on maybe 5 short rides in the last couple of years, and am TOTALLY out of cycling shape.
Well last year I got my wife a bike for her birthday, and now the two of us have decided it’s time for us to begin biking together.
We live in such an amazing area, and have trails EVERYWHERE.
So we decided we should share some of the amazing sights of Colorado with my faithful readers (ha!).
Well, it appears I can’t post pictures via email (as you’re seeing in previous test posts).
Anyway, First up is this really cool thunderhead we saw on Sunday.

And last night we ran into this little prehistoric guy!

Well, we’re pretty excited to be out enjoying such a marvelous place. Too bad you’re busy reading this!
Ok, one more try before I give up.

So the poker night has come and gone. I did much better this time, but still was not the winner. And once again I forgot to take pictures of the night.
Andre was out first with a wonderful “all in” hand. Next was his wife Jacque, then Anna, then Anna’s sister; Al. Al lasted quite awhile, but eventually it got to be too late, and she had to leave. Technically she never “lost” …
So in the end it was Aaron and I, for a bit of “heads up” poker play. Thankfully Anna remained at the table dealing for us, which makes things a lot easier.
It just got sick after awhile though. The cards were the worst, and I was getting 2-3 or 4-5 or some other dumb hand almost every time. Then a King, Queen, and Jack would flop or something equally stupid (relative to my hand of course). It was beginning to make everyone very mad.
But finally after a couple of hours of nothing, the hands got interesting enough that I went all-in ….. and lost.
So of course now I hate poker - and vow never to play again.
Ok, that’s not true, but I am getting tired of not winning.
So tonight’s another poker night at the homestead.
You see, for Christmas my beautiful wife bought me a nice set
of poker chips. You know, the cool clay ones that are weighted
perfectly, and come in a neat little metal brief case. Then, for
Valentines she got me a poker table complete with green felt, and cup
holders! She’s a catch I tell ya.
So now I think I’m some sort of savvy poker player. I practice a few
hours a week while at dialysis online, and then about once every 6
months actually play with real people.
I think I’m this guy:
But am in reality more like this guy:

So anyway, some friends will be over tonight to take my money, and I
will hate myself afterward.
Last time my wife cleaned me out …. first.
That’s right, I’m the
cool-headed-ESPN-watching-professional-poker-player, and my wife
destroys me in a few short hands. I took my deflated ego and sat on the
couch for the rest of the evening.
Tonight will be different though! Tonight I will triumph! And if I
don’t… I will *act* like triumph!
